Gone, but not forgotten

Gone, but not forgotten
This pain, I cannot hide
In memory, I see you
A million tears, I've cried.

The tender thoughts you left me
Come to my memory
Your loving smile, so precious
Will always be with me.

You visit me everyday
Upon a ray of sunshine
When flowers bloom
In a star-lit night night

When winds are gently blowing
Across a cloudless sky
Within a rolling meadow
Where horse and cattle lie.

I see you in the treetops
As summer comes to be
In shadows, you do linger
A soul so young and free.

I see you around myself
Your scent does fill the air
Just like a precious flower
A rose, so ever fair.

In my heart, I find you
Along the wounded veins
Within the distant thunder
I see you in the rain.

In early hush of morning
You come without a sound
Upon a blazing sunset
Your memory can be found.

Like sprigs of morning glory
Upon the vine, they grow
With branches reaching outward
Into my heart, you go.

Just like a special angel
God wrapped you in His care
And took you off to heaven
To live with Him, up there.

To Obtain Something Is To Give Something Up..

I am happy that my list of   ' GIVING UP SOMETHING '  is getting all the planned strike outs. This is third week of giving up and i successfully gave up so many of my most loving things.  I would like to confess at this point that i am really a god's favorite kid when things come up to giving up something. I never had to fight much to give up something that i loved most because long before i could ever imagine, those things and people who abandoned me. Trust me its lot easy to loose something then to actually give it up voluntarily . I am thankful to all those things and people for abandoning me and making it easier for me to give up other things as well.

My first week of giving up started with loosing my inspiration out of my life. As i said it was not me but it was god's love ( god's favorite kid thing )  that took it away from me. I was left with no choice or option but yes whenever you loose something you are left with some residues of bitter fact and trustfulness, the black residues i am left with taught me that no matter what a piece of individuality you are, no matter what you follow, no matter what you say, you do, you did, you will do, this life goes on with or without it. The creatures keep on moving, living, appreciating, loving, admiring and bonding with some other individuals. It goes on, It moves on, It makes it own ways to something else.

Coming back to ' Giving up something ' list... here i go with my own list, full of truth and bitter fullness..

1. Inspiration ( i didn't give up..i just lost it )

2. Bitterness ( i accepted sweetness )

3. Anger ( I gave up anger and i accepted that this is me who is born with problems not this world who is true and up to the mark )

4. Poking instruments ( giving up everything that i used to start my day with is a big sigh of comfort for me )

5. Hunger ( I gave up hunger, i eat , i live and enjoy eating what i want to eat )

6. SITAR - This is something i was obsessed with since my childhood and i always loved it. This surely deserve a big hands from you all people who are happy after abandoning me. I never would have been able to give up on my sitar without support of you all. I spend about a decade of hard work, determination and countless moments of dreams to owe one of these...

I am happy this piece of almighty, valuable, remarkable piece of art goes in the hands of children who are almost like me, abandoned by their own and this society who judged them as abnormal or not up to par with the aspects of quality of normal or great humans like them.

Keep visiting my blog to check about my next ' GIVING UP SOMETHING ' ... untill i give up on this blog as well.

“Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know.”

Here it goes away...from my hand...and i have learnt what i need to know.

Pursuit of happiness.... is the pursuit of sweetness

" Spend a few minutes each day thinking about the things that make you happy. These few minutes will give you the opportunity to focus on the positive things in your life and will lead you to continued happiness "

I have been giving thousands of minutes from last one week just to think about the things that makes me happy and i reached to a conclusion that my happiness is not being happy, my happiness is being in pain and sadness. I know my happiness gives me pain so i decided to go for pain now. So today's happiness is the bowl full of sweetness ..

I know it will give me enough kick to keep me laid up till evening but then again, sub-conscious mind and a deep sleep is also another form of happiness.
" The pursuit of happiness, then, is the pursuit of sweetness "

Joy of silence..in one’s corner of solitude

Joy of silence in one’s corner of solitude....
.
.
.
Piousness and the path of love
are two different roads.
Love is the fire that burns both belief
and non-belief.
Those who practice Love have neither
religion nor caste.
Those who practice religions or caste have neither
love nor peace...

If you can recite a thousand holy
verses from memory..
If you can read a million lines of
holy books..
What are you going to do
with your ego self, the true
mark of the heretic?
Every time your head touches
the ground in prayers,
Every time you close your eyes in prayers, remember,
this was to teach you to
put down that load of ego
which bars you from entering
the chamber of the Beloved.

To your mind feed understanding,
to your heart, tolerance and compassion.
The simpler your life, the more meaningful.
The less you are full of ego,
the more room you will have in it
to fill with the Beloved.

The best use of your tongue
is to repeat the Beloved’s Name in devotion.
The best prayers are those in
the solitude of the night.
The shortest way to the beloved
is through selfless service and
generosity to them.

If you do not give up the crowds
you won’t find your way to Oneness.
If you do not drop your self
you won’t find your true worth.
If you do not offer all you
have to the Beloved,
you will live this life free of that
pain which makes it worth living

Those with no sense of honor and dignity are best avoided.
Those who change colors constantly
are best forgotten.
The best way to be with those
bereft of the Beloved’s qualities,
is to forget them in the
joy of silence in one’s corner of solitude.

Woh haath aa rahey hain...

Main khud ko dhoondhta hoon, Wo haath aa rahe hain

Ab meri shaql se wo, jalwe dikha rahe hain

Main wo nahin hoon hargiz, wo main nahin hain lekin

Wo mujh ko munh kar ke, khud ko bataa rahey hain

Main unka aaina hoon, wo mera aaina hain

Main unhein dikhaa rahaa hoon, wo mujhe dikhaa rahey hain

Main, main nahin rahaa ab, ab wo hi main baney hain

Har aan ab wo mujh mein, main ban ke aa rahey hain

Aye waa-e-Hazrat-e-ishq achchhe hain ye karishmein

Arey jitna mujhe bigaada, utna banaa rahey hain

Mai mein kahaan thi masti, itni ke mujh ko khoti

In aakhon ke main sadqe, bekhud banaa rahey hain

Taalib se lan-taraani aakhir chali na unki

Kah kar wal-aakhir-unzur parde utha rahey hain

Main kya bataaun ‘Hazrat-e-ishq’ main kaisa mit gayaa hoon

Khud ko tatolta hoon, wo haath aa rahey hain

Life..is like a roll of dice

Shattering nights
Painful mornings
Emotions running flat
Surviving each day.

Pricking fingers
Keeping track of life
Mending distorded soul
Healing broken heart
Keeping myself up and fine.

Days of endless struggle
More hopeful pills today
Trying to appear ‘normal’
In some sort of way.

It seems that the struggle
Is always here with me
And I wouldn’t be here now
If guilt would leave me be

I know there’s been many
Who’ve had it worse than I
But that doesn’t always mean
That I wouldn’t say good-bye

People say I have a lot going for me
I’m sorry, but I just can’t see
I can’t see because my worst enemy
Is not my life, but inside of me.

Always on a roller coaster,
Not much consistency
I’m nothing if I’m not up or down
I’m nothing if just ‘me.’

Very little energy
Wanting to stay in bed
Wishing to be enthusiastic
Instead of feeling like I’m made of lead.

Wanting to be excited
Wanting to care for more
But when nothing makes sense
It’s hard to focus on the poor.

Cluttered mind, cluttered thinking
It’s hard to keep in touch
With what is happening around me
And not to worry too much.

I feel that everybody is better than me
And that I can’t do anything right.
This is how I’ve felt my whole dang life
It didn’t just start last night.

No confidence, no self-esteem
Everybody else is right
To speak my mind is to be a fool
So I just try to ‘sit tight.’

The world out there is selfish
Everybody is sick of me
To be with me is a pain
So I just keep myself away.

Any one of these problems
Would be a heavy vice
But when you have them ALL
Living seems like a roll of the dice.

In the cruel , cruel world....

"Do unto others as you would have them to do unto you." -

It is a short, pithy statement, overflowing with practical wisdom. We all want to be treated with respect and courtesy. If each of us extended respect and courtesy toward others, our own needs would naturally be met. It is a simple social blueprint promising tremendous rewards.

But life is never simple. We live in a society with lots of people, and most of them are those who follow rules that are not so golden. Sad to say, there are people who instinctively trample on other people's lives. They survive and grown on the fall of others. Like anyone else, they want to be respected and treated nicely, but try to secure these goals by invoking fear and hatred. They want power, because they need power. They want money, because they need money, they are greedy, there social values and panorama of life is to kill others and dance on their corpses to prove themselves as winners. There ability to criticize others and their disabilities is a feel good factor for them. Without it, their principles leave them vulnerable. If they don't generate fear, if they don't take lives of others they are at a loss. "I don't have to fear others as long as they fear me." The Happiness Rule promotes the well-being of others in its beneficence. It generates friendship, trust, love and harmony. The Iron Rule, that of fear, power and cruelty, propagates a selfishness that excludes others. It spawns paranoia by disconnecting people, thus encouraging even more selfish behavior. Paranoia creates its own self-fulfilling prophecy.

"What goes around, comes around" -

It expresses a perverted twist to the Happiness Rule, far more sinister: "What goes around, comes around." In the constant struggle for power, everyone eventually loses. Cruelty breeds more cruelty. People speak sometimes about the "bestial" cruelty of man, but that is terribly unjust and offensive to beasts, no animal could ever be so cruel as a man, so artfully, so artistically cruel. I have seen example of this rule in my life too. Where the Golden Rule is applied, humanity is honored and people cooperate to get the job done. Work dynamics are easier to maintain, and safer too. Where the opposite is applied, people live in fear, stabbing each other in the back, their creativity and dedication stifled, creating an environment doomed to fail. It becomes a source of misery to those who are caught in it.

"Why would anyone reject something as obvious and beneficial as the Happiness Rule?" -

For whatever reason, they surrender to their own personal instinct to be cruel. They believe cruelty is a prime factor in human relationships, a source of power. They hone their skills accordingly. They look out for ways to kill someone. They build their castles on the fossils of other's life and live happily. And the best part is their inner conscience always appreciates their action. WOW ! This is an extra-ordinary evolution in SOCIALLY "BESTIAL" CRUEL man. This, of course, throws a monkey wrench into the Happiness Rule philosophy of others. Those who treat others as they want to be treated, suddenly have to deal with someone else's cruelty. The reciprocity of the Happiness Rule is shattered. Why be respectful and courteous to someone who is purposely cruel in return?

You can hope that the cruel people will learn something through your example. If only it were that simple! The truth is, cruel people take advantage of those of who are more scrupulous. It helps them come out on top, even though, in the final episodes of life, they end up lonely, defeated and ill-remembered. I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if i did i would think of it as filled with such SOCIALLY "BESTIAL" CRUEL people. I wish all such cruel people get to pay a good visit to Hell.

"All cruel people describe themselves as paragons of frankness" -

I admire their energy and efficiency, getting the job done no matter how many corpses litter the field. This admiration loses sight of the greater picture. The cruel person cannot accomplish anything without harming good people. The world they encourage has no room for compassion. Is that what they really want? It is therefore important that the rest of us continue to embrace the Happiness Rule, even in the face of cruelty. How else can we keep hope alive? Without hope for a better world, our lives are relegated to darkness. Likewise, we should not admire cruel people, no matter how successful they become. They have made themselves enemies to the Happiness Rule, and thereby contribute to the misery of others. They make it harder for the rest of us to make the world a better place to live in.

Khuda Jaane .....

Khuda jaane kahan se jalwaye jana kahan tak hai
Wahin tak dekh sakta hai nazar jiski jahan tak hai

Only God knows the limits of inifinte His Kingdom
Humans know to the confines of their finite mind

Hum itni bhi na samjhe aql khoi dil gawan baithe
Ke husn o ishq ki duniya kahan se hai kahan tak hai

I lost my mind and heart I could not figure out
Where the world of beauty and love begins- and where it ends

Zameen se aasman tak ek sannate ka aalam hai
Naheen maalum mere dil ki viraani kahaan tak hai

From earth to sky stretches an eerie wilderness
I kow not the extent of the ruins the desolation of my heart

Zameen se aasman tak aasman se la makan tak hai
Khuda jane hamare ishq ki duniya kahan tak hai

From the earth to the empyrean from the sky to placelessness
Only He knows the expanse of the hearts universe

Niyaz o naaz ki rudad husn o ishq ka qissa
Ye jo kuchh bhi hai sab unki hamari dastan tak hai

The stories of beauty of love
Whatever there is in the world, is the story of our love

Khayal e yaar ne to aate hi gum kar diya mujhko
Yahi hai ibteda to inteha iski kahan tak hai

With the very first thought of the Beloved I was lost to the world
If this be the beginning what would be its finale

Suna hai sufiyon se hamne aksar khanaqahon mein
Ki yeh rangeen bayani Bedam rangeen bayan tak hai

Once have I heard Sufis say in their retreats
These colourful words, Bedam, these soulful verses, ends here

- Kalaam by Hazrat Bedam Shah Warsi

Na toh tu raha na toh main raha....

Mujhe bekhudi ye tune bhali chashni chakhayi

Dil e be nava na mere jahan chhavni hain chayi

Na visaal hain, na hijraan na suroor hain na gham hain
Jise kahiye khwab-e-ghaflat so woh neend mujh ko aayi

Khabre tahhayyur-e-ishq sunn na junoon raha na pari rahi
Na toh tu raha na toh main raha jo rahi bekhabari rahi...

The one made alive by God will never die

Spring makes red and white flowers appear on the trees,
But the spring that is the origin of colors is colorless.

Understand what I have said, and give up all talk;
Run to the Origin without color and unite yourself to it.

Annihilate yourself before the One Existence
So that thousands of worlds leap out of you

And your pure existence flames out of itself
And goes on and on birthing different forms.

Of course, none of these forms will last.
Happy is the one who knows this mystery!

Happy is he who gives his life to know this!
He leaves this house for another far more radiant.

You cannot understand this mystery through reason;
The Way to Knowledge winds through suffering and torment.

If you do not feel pain, you do not look for healing.
The soul that does not live in God is not alive.

She seems like a soul, but does not deserve the name:
She has not been made alive by the Beloved.

The soul is given life by the four-elements
Like a lamp that burns through the night:

The light is from oil and wick, it is not eternal.
While the oil exists, the lamp burns, but then goes out.

The one made alive by God will never die.
He lives through God and not through gold or bread.

God is the Light, the Eternal Source of Lights.
The Light is causeless, as is His fiery radiance.

Like gold, God's value comes from His pure, perfect essence.

I’m coming home ..

I’ve wandered far away from God,
Now I’m coming home;
The paths of sin too long I’ve trod,
God, I’m coming home.

Coming home, coming home,
Nevermore to roam,
Open wide your arms of love,
I’m coming home.

I’ve wasted many precious years,
Now I’m coming home;
I now repent with bitter tears,
God, I’m coming home.

I’m tired of sin and straying, God,
Now I’m coming home;
I’ll trust your love, believe your Word,
I’m coming home.

My soul is sick, my heart is sore,
Now I’m coming home;
My strength renew, my hope restore,
God, I’m coming home.

My only hope, my only plea,
Now I’m coming home;
That hope died, and died for me.
I’m coming home.

I need His cleansing blood, I know,
Now I’m coming home;
Wash me whiter than the snow,
God, I’m coming home.

I hear your welcome voice,
That calls me, God, to you,
To perfect faith and love;
To perfect hope, and peace and trust,
For earth and heaven above,
I’m coming home.

Lead me to give to You,
Lead me to serve You,
Lead me to love You,
Thou art all in all, God,
Lead me.
God, I’m coming home.

My times are in your hands,
And all my days in your keeping,
You lift my feet from the stone,
And take my hand in the darkness,
Your meadows and woods are mine,
And your waters flow through my heart,
You are the glory and the love
of all Eternity,
And I belong to You forever;
I’m coming home.

Wash my feet with your love
and my soul with your spirit,
Lift me from deep within and soars to meet your glory,
When I sink at last
Before the glory of your presence,
When I come to you
Out of this world’s flights and falls,
When I sing to you
My soul’s humble adoration,
You reach down
And bathe me in your love,
God, I’m coming home.

When I resign my will to yours
all that comes to me is of You;
Whenever I give my life to it
it covers me and leads me;
Your sight, your way, your plan
your all-seeing, all-knowing wisdom,
Is brought to me when I wait
Is brought to me as your gift,
It is precious – Your Will
it is Holy;
It guides me and molds me and keeps me;
Make me to live so within it
that I come to its wholeness
to You.
God, I’m coming home..I'm coming home..

Abandoned Life

Laugh, and the world laughs with you;
Weep, and you weep alone.
For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth,
But has trouble enough of its own.
Sing, and the hills will answer;
Sigh, it is lost on the air.
The echoes bound to a joyful sound,
But shrink from voicing care.
Rejoice, and men will seek you;
Grieve, and they turn and go.
They want full measure of all your pleasure,
But they do not need your woe.
Be glad, and your friends are many;
Be sad, and you lose them all.
There are none to decline your nectared wine,
But alone you must drink life's gall.
Feast, and your halls are crowded;
Fast, and the world goes by.
Succeed and give, and it helps you live,
But no man can help you die.
There is room in the halls of pleasure
For a long and lordly train,
But one by one we must all file on
Through the narrow aisles of pain.

My Symphony

I will not die an unlived life
I will not live in fear of falling or
catching fire
I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible, to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise
I choose to risk my significance; to live so that which comes to me as seed goes to the next as blossom and that which comes to me as blossom, goes on as fruit.

I will not die an unlived life
I will not live in fear of falling or
catching fire
I choose to live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury; and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable; and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; to listen to stars and birds, to souls and sages, with open heart; to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasion, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common.
This is to be my symphony.

I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or
catching fire
This is to be my symphony.
I choose to face it with courage; to struggle rather than surrender; to die for rather than regret for; to live with ranter than learning from; to cheer up, to pray for, to obey my heart my life my intitutions my soul....

I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or
cathching fire...This is to be my symphony

Never Ending Love...It's the one thing can't hurt because it heals !!

That never ending love
That always-soothing touch
The bonding of two hearts
The amalgamation of souls
In supreme serenity
The promises made
Pain forbidden
Paradise in a single drop
The sweet caress

The lonely stares
Wanting someone to be there
Now will end
Broken dreams will stop
And reality will take place
No more time to hide
The true emotions

And though the words are small
There are many never spoken
But beautiful calling out
For something in return
Waiting
For the right moment
Willing to die
For the one you love

But, how could love be so cruel
And yet so truthful?
One day it can be
What it has to be..Soon

Those memories, those never-before-seen pictures
They only exist for someone to remember
Don't let go, Whatever you do, don't let go
And the never ending love won't leave you
Hold on..
No matter how much it hurts
Because it's a hundred times more healing
When you get the prize

Ever hear them say
Live life to the fullest?
They mean..
Live and you will get the best reward
But live with love and get an even bigger one
You get the keepsakes
The passion
The faith
The adventure
All in one
The tears a huge puddle
That fall to the ground
Just like the rain

Yes, love never ends
If you gain the never ending love
And truth is, never ending
Defines unconditional
Never ending love
Continues past death
Before pain
And after..
In times of sunshine
Times of darkness
Times of laughter

But please don't hide
The true emotions
If you want a good reward
No matter how far the one you love is
They will always be a part of you
In your heart
So truly you're not alone
And if you feel your soul is shattered
You are not alone
The never ending love will guide you
Stop hiding
Say the words
All of them
No matter if they hurt
Or bring you down
If you really love what is already in you
Then don't stop
Keep loving

Never ending love
Never ends
And neither should yours
No matter what bonds
What boundaries
What obstacles
In the end it will turn out alright
If you keep the never ending love
That holds you with the one you love
More than any official bond
That is stronger than rope or threads
And length further than long
Don't ruin what isn't there
But continue the beautiful dreams
The wishes
The questions
The hopes

There is no such thing as goodbye
If you believe in never ending love
Also called everlasting
Continuous
Forever
Love

Don't keep away the feelings
Or fake regret
No matter how much time
Where you are
Dead or alive
There is no bond if you have never ending love

Hold on tightly to never ending love
Don't let go
On one side you are
The other hangs your love
Don't let go
No matter how much it hurts
Because never ending love
Is one of the strongest...words
And if you keep having never ending love
You will never lose hope
Even if all seems lost
You will not cry on the inside
But only on the out
And never ending love
Is true
Never ending love
Is deeper than just "I love you"
Never ending love
Is what we all have yet need
Never ending love
Never has greed
With never ending love
We can live out our dreams
So don't keep away your love
Nothing is what it seems

Do you know the saying
If you love someone you can let them go
If they come back they're yours to keep?
There is no such thing as that
If it is true love
Then they can never leave your heart
So in a way
You will always keep them with you

Never ending love
Truly does exist
Ask the incomplete lovers
Whom do they miss
Whom do they cry for
Whom do they long for
How they love them
How they care for them
How they survive
And miss them
If their love is true
Never ending love
Is not a tool

Many may fake never ending love
But one day you will realize
Who tells the truth,
And who hides their soul behind their eyes
Who steps back,
And who holds you tight

Never ending love
Is ultimately real
Is ultimately beautiful
Is ultimately awesome
Never ending love
It's the one thing can't hurt because it heals

My Faith

OFTEN people use the word 'faith' in the sense of the particular religion they follow, whether they belong to the Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hinduism or another religion. And in this way they obscure the real meaning of faith, which is light itself. Faith is not necessarily a belief, but faith is the culmination of belief. Belief is a conception; a conception which one has formed oneself or a conception of a certain idea arrived at by reading something. A person will hold this belief as long as his reason is not strong enough to root it out, or as long as he does not meet someone who will dig it out, or as long as he has not had an experience which entirely destroys it. How many does one see in the world around, counting spiritual words on their rosary, sitting in temples, churches with eyes closed, worshipping everyday; and yet when someone who is more intellectual and whose reasoning is more powerful meets them he is able to change them completely. From being orthodox such a person has become a practical man, from a dreamer he has become wide-awake!

No doubt one belief can be stronger than another. A sheep-like belief is a belief, which everyone holds without admitting it. People think that they have a reason for believing that which they believe, but this is not always so. Often a person thinks that he has a reason for something, but he may be wrong. Religious questions apart, when one comes to political matters, a man may be raised up by one person's influence and the whole country follows him; he becomes the man of the day. Everyone follows him with his eyes shut. But then he may be despised by someone else and the crowd despises him too. That is crowd psychology. At the same time everyone says, 'I am an intellectual. I always tell the truth for I know what I am speaking about.' But is it so? It is not. I recently read a book about Czar in which writer described how people of russia kept pictures of the Czar and the Czarina in every little shop and home. Do you think the people did not have a feeling of adherence to the Czar? Was it all hypocrisy? It could not have been. And what happened the next day? They broke the crowns in the street with hammers and carried them in their processions. Where had that belief gone, which one day was so great that they thought that the portrait of their Czar was sacred? Next day the belief was changed; it took no time. You may think, 'This happened in Russia'; but you will see it in every country just by studying the psychology of the crowd.

Therefore wise people have never depended upon the praise of the crowd. They have always known that it was worth nothing. Buddha, with all the worship and praise given to him did not even look at it. He kept his work before his eyes, his service to humanity, and so did all the sages and prophets and seers and thinkers; they never believed in the praise of mankind, in its love and affection. What is it? The man who has not reached the realm of faith is not living; he does not yet know his mind. One day he believes something, the next he does not. Therefore faith is not only adherence to a certain religion or belonging to a certain religious institue; faith is much greater than that.

The next step on the path of belief is that one does not believe something because the crowd believes it, but because it comes from a certain authority. This is the child's belief, but at the same time this is the way one has to go. The child progresses when the mother says, 'This is called water,' and it repeats, 'Water.' It does not argue and say, 'It is not water, it is bread.' It just listens and believes and that is the way it begins to learn. But at the same time this child needs to grow up and understand what exactly belief is. Being dependent on mother, father, sisters or brother to tell you about what exactly the belief is not a step on the path of belief.

Then there is the third step, when the belief has a reason, when one says, 'Why do I believe? Because I have a reason for it. I can explain my belief; therefore I believe it is such and such.' This belief is more dependable. Yet, is reason always dependable? Reason sometimes proves to be so tricky that one day a person may reason out a certain thing, and the next day he has every reason to root out his belief. For is it not reason that makes the evildoer commit evil? No one does anything without reason. One day a person reasons how to do something, and after only a couple of hours he may discover that it was not a good reason.

But there is a fourth belief, which alone can really be called belief, a belief which does not even depend upon reason, a belief which is a natural belief; one cannot help having it. Nothing can root it out, no argument, no reasoning, no study, no practice, nothing can take away from one, for it is a natural belief. This is what faith is. A person who has not reached this belief is still on the way, and he cannot say that he has faith.

Faith is such a great virtue. Even in everyday life one cannot value enough a companion, a relative, a servant, or a friend who is faithful. There is no price for it, it is beyond price to have someone who is faithful, someone in whom one can have confidence, upon whom one can rely with closed eyes, of whom one can say that one is sure that he will never change his affection, his love, his kindness, his right feeling. If one has someone like this one should be most thankful, for it is more precious than any worldly treasure.

If I had to describe the meaning of faith I would say that faith means self-confidence. The secret of faith is that it can be used as a medicine and better than medicine, as wealth and greater than wealth; it can be religion and greater than religion, happiness and greater than happiness. For nothing can buy or sell faith. If there is anything that can be called the grace of God it is faith and self-confidence. It is something one can neither teach nor develop; it must be in one, and it can only be strengthened by loving it, by enjoying it. It develops by itself. My recent experiences taught me a lesson; a very important lesson of keeping faith. If a person comes to me and says, 'I believe in you so much that I will believe anything you say; but I do not believe in myself,' I will say, 'Thank you, I will not believe in you either. You had better believe in yourself first; then I can depend upon you.' What kind of belief is this? If a person does not believe in himself he will say one day, 'I believe in you,' and the next day, 'I do not believe in you.' Besides, faith is inspiring, faith causes a man to be brave, courageous, successful, and faith makes life wonderful.

Faith can be observed in five different aspects: faith in one's impulses, faith in one's reason, faith in one's principle, faith in one's ideal, and faith in God.

It is the mystical temperament that causes a person to have faith in his impulse. When a mystic thinks, 'I must go to the North,' he goes there. He does not ask himself why; he accepts the divine impulse, and he goes toward the North to meet whatever he may. If an impulse arises to do this business, to enter this profession, accomplish this or that, and a person does it there is something wonderful about it. Columbus is an example of this. He had the impulse to go and seek for India, and indeed he found a continent. The outer form of the impulse was wrong, but the inner right.

The mystics of all ages have believed in this. They cannot help it; it is the mystical temperament. If a thousand people say, 'No, it is not right,' they say. 'Yes, it is right, I must do it.' It is not necessary for everybody to become a mystic in order to have these impulses and listen to them. Listening to one's impulses is a question of temperament. There may be one man who has it, and another, perhaps a very intellectual man, thinks, 'Is it right or wrong? Shall I do it or shall I not do it?' And the time passes and the chance is lost. Out of a hundred people only one will follow his impulse, and ninety-nine will wait to see if something is right or wrong, light or heavy.

The second aspect is faith in reason. The success of great inventors such as Edison depends upon faith in reason. If they had not had this faith they would not have been able to create successfully, but by having it they made wonderful inventions.

The third aspect of faith is faith in one's principle. Principle makes one strong, if only one has faith in it. There is a story of the young Prophet, who was taking care of the cows on a farm. When some young men of his own age came and said, ' come along, we are going to town to have a good time!' Prophet answered, 'No, I will take care of your cows and you go and have a good time, I won't leave my cows.'

With this principle the Prophet began; and eventually the same principle made him what he was, so that thousands and millions of people for fourteen centuries have held the name of the Prophet as their strength and power.

And then there is faith in the ideal. Those who had a high ideal for the welfare of their nation, or their race, of humanity, held their lives cheap. To give their life was nothing to them; their ideal was always greater. Not every man has faith in his ideal, but it gives great power and uplift, and raises a man from earth to heaven.

Finally there is faith in God. People may say, 'Is it not imagination to have faith in God?' But he who really has faith in God can work wonders. Someone said to a Brahmin, 'How foolish, Brahmin, to worship an idol, calling it God!' The Brahmin answered, 'If you have no faith and you worship the God who is in heaven He will not hear you. But if I have faith I will make this God of stone speak to me.'

I read a short story which clearly defines the concept of faith in god - A preacher once told his audience, 'When you speak the Name of God with true faith you can walk on the waters.' There was a farmer standing there who was very pleased to hear this. He went home pondering upon it. Next day he went to the preacher and said, 'I could not understand all the dogmas and morals you preached, but one thing impressed me very much. Will you do me the great honor of having dinner with me? The preacher accepted, and the farmer said he would come to fetch him the next day. This, the farmer did, and on their way they came to a river which they had to cross. So the preacher said, 'Where is the boat?' The farmer said, 'Boat?' You taught me that if we pronounced the name of God we could walk on the water! Therefore I did not take my boat but walked on the water, as you said.' The preacher was very much afraid that he would have to walk on water, too, for he had never tried this. He said, 'Will you do it, please? And the farmer did; but the preacher could not.

Such is the phenomenon of faith. We may say, 'We have so much to do, so much to think about.' But to have faith is beyond all this; it is something which words cannot explain, something which springs up from the heart and which elevates man, raising him from the earth to the sky.

Coming Back To Life

Where were you when I was burned and broken

While the days slipped by from my window watching

Where were you when I was hurt and I was helpless

Because the things you say and the things you do surround me

While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words

Dying to believe in what you heard

I was staring straight into the shining sun...

Lost in thought and lost in time

While the seeds of life and the seeds of change were planted

Outside the rain fell dark and slow

While I pondered on this dangerous but irresistible pastime

I took a heavenly ride through our silence

I knew the moment had arrived

For killing the past and coming back to life...

I took a heavenly ride through our silence

I knew the waiting had begun

And headed straight...into the shining sun...

I know you are calling me....

I know you are calling me closer
to hear what are you saying,
To open my ears
to hear as I pray,
In the still of the night,
I hear it so softly,
A small voice,
A whisper,
and maybe His Calling.

When I walk along
the pathway called life,
I can't help but see
how close you're to me...
I know you're not far,
as many may say,
but ever close
to hear when I pray....

I know you are calling me closer
to hear what are you saying,
to open my ears
to hear as I pray,
in the still of the night
I hear it so softly,
A small voice,
a whisper,
and maybe His Calling.

I'm available
to answer your call,
and I promise you
I'll give you my all,

whatever the cost,
whatever the course,
there's no looking back,
nor any remorse.

I know you are calling me closer
to hear what are you saying,
to open my ears
to hear as I pray,
In the still of the night,
I hear it so softly,
A small voice,
a whisper,
and maybe God's Calling..

I hear it so softly,
A small voice,
a whisper,
I am coming ...
I am coming ...

It will never be remodeled...

Maybe its true what i read somewhere, " all of us being cracked open." Like each of us starts out as a watertight vessel. And then things happen - these people leave us, or don’t love us, or don’t get us, or change their priorities, or they need someone more exciting and we lose and fail and get hurt. Relationships take up energy; letting go of them, psychiatrists theorize, entails mental work. When we lose someone we were close to, we have to reassess our picture of the world and our place in it. The more our identity was wrapped up with the deceased, the more difficult the loss, we no longer believe in the idea of souls mates, love at first sight, being part of each other and the vessel starts to crack in places. And I mean, yeah once the vessel cracks open, the end becomes inevitable. Once it starts to rain inside the Osprey, it will never be remodeled. But there is all this time between when the cracks start to open up and when we finally fall apart. And its only that time that we see one another, because we see out of ourselves through our cracks and into others through theirs. When did we see each other face to face? Not until you saw into my cracks and I saw into yours. Before that we were just looking at ideas of each other, like looking at your window shade, but never seeing inside. But once the vessel cracks, the light can get in. The light can get out. But i need to start believe that a very few times in your life, if you were lucky, you might meet someone who was exactly right for you. Not because he was perfect, or because you were, but because your combined flaws were arranged in a way that allowed two separate beings to hinge together.
